Certified Music Practitioner

 

 I am a 2016 graduate of the Music for Healing and Transition Program (MHTP) and hold the credential of Certified Music Practitioner (CMP). My practice emphasizes patient dignity and rights, appropriate permission, confidentiality, individualized music, and collaboration with healthcare staff.

 

 

 
Clinical Practicum Experience

To earn her CMP credential, Donna completed clinical practicum hours, delivering live, personalized bedside music to patients in complex medical environments.

 

Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois: Completed clinical practicum experience providing individualized bedside flute music in ICU settings.

 

University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio: Completed clinical practicum experience providing individualized bedside music in neuro, med/surg, and ortho/trauma settings.

 

St. Leonard Health and Rehabilitation Center, Centerville, Ohio:  Provided music for nursing home residents experiencing cognitive decline.

 

Additional experience

Hospice of Dayton: Provided quiet, comforting music for patients receiving end-of-life and hospice care.

 

Music for Healing & Transition Program (MHTP): Served as an Advisor to MHTP students for five years and currently serves as a Reviewer of continuing-education credits for the program.​

 

Professional Ethics

As a Certified Music Practitioner, Donna follows the Music for Healing & Transition Program's Code of Ethics and Conduct. Her practice emphasizes patient dignity and rights, appropriate permission, confidentiality, individualized music, and collaboration with healthcare staff.

 

Therapeutic Music Instruments

Donna is certified through MHTP in:

  • Concert flute

  • Alto flute

  • Bass flute

 

These instruments allow her to offer a variety of flute sounds and tonal colors in therapeutic music settings.
