Music that brings comfort, connection and peace

Donna Hangen is a Certified Music Practitioner providing live, individualized therapeutic music for patients and families in hospice, hospital, palliative-care, and senior-care settings.

Based in Brookville, Ohio, Donna serves Dayton and surrounding Southwest Ohio communities. As a flutist with extensive performance experience, she brings beautiful live instrumental music to the bedside, adapting the music to each individual's needs and preferences.

Who I Serve

Hospice

Music can provide comfort and companionship for patients and families during the end-of-life journey.

Hospitals & Palliative Care

Individualized live music can offer moments of relaxation, comfort and connection during a patient's healthcare experience.

Nursing Homes & Senior Care

Therapeutic music can support residents who may benefit from a calm, personalized musical experience.

Memory Care

Familiar melodies and gentle live music can provide opportunities for connection and engagement, even when verbal communication is difficult.

How Therapeutic Music Works

Every person responds to music differently. Donna listens, observes and adapts the music in the moment, considering the individual's preferences, condition and responses.

1. Discuss the setting and needs
Donna works with staff to understand the environment and the needs of the people being served.

2. Individualize the music
Music is selected based on the individual's preferences, cultural background, life experiences and current needs whenever that information is available.

3. Adapt in the moment
Tempo, volume, repertoire and instrumentation can be adjusted according to the person's responses.

4. Focus on comfort and connection
The goal is to create a peaceful musical experience that supports comfort, dignity and human connection.
